What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Remember a Day (Wright)

Remember a day before today
A day when you were young.
Free to play alone with time
Evening never came.
Sing a song that can't be sung
Without the morning's kiss
Queen - you shall be it if you wish
Look for your king
Why can't we play today
Why can't we stay that way

Climb your favorite apple tree
Try to catch the sun
Hide from your little brother's gun
Dream yourself away
Why can't we reach the sun
Why can't we blow the years away
Blow away
Blow away
Remember
Remember

Still one of my favourite Rush albums, a great rocker but with hints of prog to come.

It just would not be Christmas without the boys.

Goldberg Variations again. Listening to Interview  and outtakes included in this CD set. A fascinating insight into his working method and logic.

Bach Brandenburg Concertos No.5 & No.6: I like Reiner in small ensemble than directing large orchestra. Surprisingly rhythmic and expressive.

I love this original Columbia pressing ( circa '50 ) sounding crisp and instrument colours are right on. This pre-6 eye era record has a better EQ than their later pressings.

Although the general consensus in the forums seems to be that Phil Spector sucks I still think that once a year this is allowed.

Awful from an audiophile perspective. But sometimes the mushy production just works - Be My Baby, You've Lost That Loving Feeling, Walkin' In The Rain, and yes, River Deep Mountain High.

Another Christmas related album but after this I think it enough at least for today.

Seems that Lislevand occasionally makes CDs dedicated for the audience of his country, Norway.

In Christmas CD's booklet there is no any English/Deutsch/Italian/Chinese/ etc.. words only Norwegian.

I respect it a lot.

"Most of this repertoire was written down the manuscript widely known as Cancionero Musical de Palacio. With more than 450 pieces composed over several decades by several generations of both identified and anonymous composers, Cancionero Musical de Palacio ‘towers above every other secular monument of Spanish Renaissance musical history' "

I think it's the best Arianna's CD.

Sound quality: you will jump I promise.

Hghly recommended.
