What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Did you get my John Foxx Brighton concert mail?

Stu.

I did, had a look at a video of him live and it sounded quite good - I'll have to see what I am doing then. Thanks

Analogue Productions, 45 rpm vinyl pressing. Background noise is so quiet, and production is way better than CD. On my 3rd listen tonight!

From a year or so ago, I'm Having Fun Now, made with her beau Johnathan Rice, is well worth a listen too...

Oh crikey...  thanks Stu.  You've just reminded me of some lost days in Kathmandu many years back. I still have no idea what really happened, but I did wonder why, for days afterwards, people kept running up to me with Man U stuff and Duran Duran bits and bobs and asking me to sign them.  Weird and confusing. Oh, happy days...

CC,

Got that on order.

I wonder some times how so much good music slips through my net?

So much good stuff out their?

I only found Jenny the other week because of Gregg in the USA.

He told me they went mad for her 2008 album Acid tongue on the Hoff forum because of its out standing SQ.

I can hear what they meant.

I bought Rabbit Fur Coat at the same time.

I didn't know it at the time of ordering? but i was sent the Rough Trade Promo of Acid Tongue with photo's.

Cheers,

Stu.

Portico Quartet : Isla

Inspired by recent tread in music room, would like to explore their other albums now.

One of my favourites from last year. Have you seen the controversy surrounding him at the moment?

Such a strong record.

Yep, I know what you mean about missing out on music. I only know Jenny Lewis as a lass I know loves loads of that kind of thing  - Rilo Kiley, Death Cab For Cutie, Bright Eyes, and so on (and had a crush on me a while ago... but that's another story, ha ha.)

I think Acid Tongue's always come in a perforated card sleeve, hence the title, of course. (If that's what you mean? It looks kind of like a promo.) For the same reason, a Whizzkid favourite, Richie Hawtin's first album as Plastikman, Sheet One, is very similar.

Anyways, a little more Jenny for you...
