What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Good stuff.

There was a funny interview with Nico in the Guardian a couple of days ago, where amongst other things, he bristles a little when reminded of being called 'wonderfully pretentious' in their earlier review of Space Is Only Noise. Worth a read if you haven't seen it.

Don't know about you, but there's still parts of the album I struggle with, but the best bits are just incredibly good. In case you've missed it, his (free download) EP from late late year, Don't Break My Love, is well worth a listen too.

CC (listening to Portico Quartet again - thanks!)

Yesterday and today's evening: a comparison between Stephen Kovacevich, Alfred Brendel (3rd cycle), Paul Lewis, Wilhelm Kempff (stereo cycle), Daniel Barenboim (1st cycle) and Annie Fischer, playing the three Opus 31 sonatas.

Cheers,

Thanks for the info Chief, I will take a look and listen.

Just took Mrs Lontano out for a nice lunch. Thought I would play Portico Quartet on the way home - she gave it and me a fair amount of verbal abuse - one for listening solo.....

Now Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, electronic and acoustic noodlings........
