What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.
A Beethoven broadcast from Oslo [the Philharmonic], where the musicianship seems to show Norwegians know a thing or two about LvB's music!
ATB from George
PS: Long live the radio!

Kovacevich' EMI Beethoven cycle largely consists of the sonatas that were recorded for the single discs over a 10 year period, but put in chronological order. The original series included two Op.26 recordings - the latest is used in this set. Furthermore, Kovacevich re-recorded Op.111 specifically for this set. Highly recommended for some of the hottest Beethoven playing on disc - even more fiery than Annie Fischer, and like her with plenty of range for a more rounded look at Beethoven.
Cheers,
EJ

Although the title would suggest I'm playing this at the wrong time of day, it just seems to go perfectly with the snowy scene outside.

Something domestic today (there is presidential election - phase two).
Also a short video sample of the later arrangemet of the title song.
