What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

The more I listen to this, the more a return to form this is for Tord after the Restored, Returned outing spoilt by some vocals. This is beautiful music. I am looking forward to seeing him next month.
How's the overall sound quality on the redbook cd?
It's ECM. It does not get any better than this.
This is already starting out to be a good musical year with some excellent new releases - Andy Sheppard and Portico Quartet for starters.

Adrian,
When these guys tour the US they just do the two coasts figuring that we, who live in the middle of the continent, will be content just to enjoy them through our sound systems. I don't have The Well yet nor the Restored. Being There is my favorite album out of their first three.
That's a shame Haim. I am lucky that they are playing in two different venues near to me and touring the rest of the country.
This one is worth getting. I agree with you on Being There

still trying to view my own pictures before posting but failing miserably - re sized the photo on flickr re: your suggestion from my last pathetic attempt but still can't view at my end! Has it emerged through the internet fog as a fully formed album cover to tell you what soulful riffs I am listening to? Think I gonna get my trusted "little man that does stuff with computers that I don't understand" round in the morning for a clean up on the over full memory and a free lesson on photo posting!

One of the standout records in the Decca Sound box. Conducted by Britten himself in 1963 in Wigmore Hall, one could call it the definitive recording. Always admired Wilfred Owen's poetry...

Sure is. The only sound of snap, crackle and pop is from my log fire burning....

Laugh,

I bet you don't want to leave that room with a real fire burning and great music playing?

This is a superb line up of musicians. I have played this a few times this week and it is very good, but giving it a proper run through now on the big rig.
Now Stu, this is available with added snap, crackle and pop.
