What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

Posted by: Richard Dane on 29 December 2011

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Not yet it isn't - being made like a packet of rice crispies as we speak.

continuing DG Beethoven vinyl marathon with the cell sonatas. All marvelous, except the 3rd, which seemed strangely off.

And when it does come it will go round at only 33.3rpm, whereas your goes round at 500rpm.

Don't you get dizzy listening at that speed?

When i bought this album the first time around on yellow vinyl from one of the ourprice stores on TCRoad in London you could have fun with the speed control on my Luxman and Technics decks to make it sound better.

To this day i still think it sounds best slowed down a Tad on a few tracks.

But thats just me.

Its still a great album.

Deb's, Get a copy of this Live DVD,or Bray,

Three great albums played live.

Three great concerts on one disc,You can choose .

I would start with the album above though as its a fav and a great gig.

All were shot in Hi Def on normal DVD before most people knew what Hi Def was.

Its Quality.

Handel's Ariodante, issued last year as the latest in Curtis' series of Handel operas (recorded for DHM, DG and Virgin). Curtis and DiDonato are taking this opera on the road in March this year (visiting, amongst others, Rotterdam and Eindhoven).
