What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Anyway, links:

Very bluesy and sort of dreamy too. Laid back and relaxing, very pleasant.

Nice Album

Even some female vocal leads on a couple of songs, very unusual for APP.

Yes, I have everything PT has ever released and ordered just to be complete. I really did not expect it sound as good as it does. Love it.

A new release with assortment of styles from the elder statesman(slash)badass.

Guest players include Esperanza Spalding, Ambrose Akinmusire - even Bruce Hornsby?

Nicely produced as well - no compression here.

Getting past tack six is not easy.

So many influences on this album it's not true. From The Beach Boys to Porcupine Tree via Marillion and then rap??? Yes, PF and Steve Hackett are all in there too.

My wish list is going to be growing.

Ok - I like it.

On Spotify:-

This sounds pretty average to me.

Overall I'd rather listen to Beach Boys, Marillion,Porcupine Tree,Yes , PF and Steve Hackett, but definitely no (C)rap.

Give them your email address in return for a 12 track album sampler as a thank you for being voted label of the year at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide awards.

A Brahms 1st that has been controversial since the day it was issued. I think it's one of the most considered, well thought through performances ever recorded.

Thanks reubs, I saw that one myself when I googled the Lapalux cover and just downloaded it - I thieved 'Cali's finest' from the press release on the Brainfeeder site, of course! Not sure how they ended releasing the last Martyn album, as it's not their usual kind of thing, though there's a couple more I'll have to investigate.

What's Thundercat's album like? I remember you posted it a few weeks back, and meant to ask you then.
