What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

Posted by: Richard Dane on 29 December 2011

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Well, there are all kinds of dreams..

In Après un rêve, a dream of romantic elopement with a lover, away from darkness, and towards an awakening light is described. However, the dreamer longs to return to the "mysterious night". The text of the poem is an anonymous Italian poem freely adapted into French:

After a dream

In a slumber enchanted by your image
I dreamt of happiness, passionate mirage,
Your eyes were softer, your voice pure and resonant,
You shone like a sky lit up by the dawn;

You called me and I left the earth
To run away with you towards the light,
The skies opened their clouds for us,
Unknown splendours, divine flashes glimpsed,

Alas! Alas! sad awakening from dreams
I call you, O night, give me back your lies,
Return, return radiant,

Return, O mysterious night!

Andy, I buy regularly from the states. Sometimes you get stung for tax and sometimes not. I do not know why? Certainly if you get a disc shipped at time it may be below the threshold, But several together should attract tax! I use Amazon.com or Acoustic Sounds as recommended by others of this Parish. If you use amazon the postage is usually quite low compared to the others. However many of the .com marketplace sellers will not post to the UK.There are several others companies that I have used successfully.

The Boz is limited and was out of stock at AS but still available on Amazon. Good luck. You might find some copies can be got here in the uk if you search? And buying from the states is not necessarily cheaper! HMV here can be very good value but so often is out of stock.......for months when it is available (for more!) elsewhere.
