What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Anyway, links:

Tyga, "Careless World: Rise of the Last King"

It is rap.  I can guarantee that there is only one other member on here who would even consider listening to it.

Chief, if you did get and enjoy the Drake album I can recommend this from his Young Money labelmate.

I know I'm way late on this, but just listened to Elbow's Seldom Seen Kid, holy crap what an awesome album.

But I have to say, a 'heads up' that it was 45rpm would have been nice :-)  Not a word on the sleeve or the disc label.  Happy for the better sound quality of course ....

playing on the rega planar some charity shop vinyl that cost a quid each.

Used to have a far better condition copy of this album in my original vinyl collection...

how i wish i hadn't sold off that collection

and not sure if this copy was worth paying a quid for, it needed one hell of a clean up, and still too many scuffs, teeth marks and vomit stains.

musically it sounds okay with very impressively punchy bass-lines lurking deep in the pressing but there is far too much dreaded snap crackle n pop in all the quieter parts.

Whoever let this lp get into this sad state needs a good kicking for vinyl abuse

Sorry to hear you are not 100% at the moment, hope you get well soon.

Thanks for the heads up on the next PT vinyl release, I have taken your advice and the CD is on order.

The Strange Case of the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde long weekend.  After a good two days of listening to or rather needing some rather violent and aggressive piano music, capable of smashing a piano to bits, I feel rather refreshed and even rejuvenated.  Time though to bring it back down with some Lyric Pieces of Grieg. I think I will then spend the remainder of the evening reading through some of the decidedly more mellow music such as Grieg's "At Your Feet" or "Solitary Traveller," then possibly on to a bit of Satie or Mompou and then hopefully finish with something like Chopin's Berceuse or the Nocturnes.
