What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.VIII)

With 2012 almost upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

On the Black!
180g Limited Edition?
This is quality pressing
limited to how many they can sell
What number is yours?
Stu.
Stu,
Mine arrived today from the Leonard Cohen Site. Took 4 weeks to arrive. Inner cover and sleeve split on 3 sides, record filthy and superficially scuffed and no number to be found. It even contained a free funny round shiny plastic thing to play in my car. After cleaning though I have to agree the SQ is excellent. Leonard is in fine form. I can't be bothered to send it back given the length of time it took to arrive.

On the Original Black!
Solo piano
Have played these,
Now on this.
Quite impressive. Great new album.
First Spin....
A wonderful discovery hearing many Baroque and earlier European organs over 22 cd's. Many of them are in Thuringia and Saxony, which of course is the area in which the Bach family lived. The booklet is nice and quite detailed with organ registration and details, and a write-up on the music and the each organ.
First spin - sounding very good so far.
Cheers,
EJ

Rick Wakeman's 'Criminal Record'.
Still my favourite Wakman solo album. I quite like some of "The Six Wives of Henry VIII".
Are any of his other solo offerings similar? I did try his epic concept albums, "King Arthur" and "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" many years ago, but wasn't keen at the time.
Rather good, it is. Very nicely recorded, too.
Tangerine Dream "Brussels Feb 1976" Tangerine Tree Vol. 27
Definitely my favourite of the Tangerine Tree releases, even though it is an audience recording, the sound is excellent, and the performance is possibly the best I have heard by the band. I do suspect they had been listening to Pink Floyd 'Wish You Were Here' at the time, as Froese's guitar playing sounds very like Gilmour, and the band were in a very melodic mood that night.
All their shows in their period were improvised, so you do get great and bad shows from the Tangerine Tree recordings, as well as the variations in quality of sound from such a project.
A pity this show was not one of the ones picked for official release in the Bootleg Box or Bootmoon releases.

The copy I received is the US issue all the way from Tennessee, although it wasn't clear when I ordered it that it was a US site as I paid in ££s.(£12.99). The SQ is good as I mentioned above.
Cheers

reubs, There's a post in the forum FAQs about how to post pictures, though it's more to do with posting your own photos, so here's a how to post album covers, etc. Apologies if any of this is blindingly obvious, and this is for posting from a pc/mac, as there's no toolbar in the Post Reply window on an iPad/phone...
- google illmatic, and find the best cover that's around 400 x 400 (around 300 x 300 to 600 x 600 will be fine) and click on 'Copy image location' (not 'copy image') - that's in Firefox, but all browsers will be much the same
( - if you want, you can check you've copied the image correctly by opening the link in another window: http://i1.sndcdn.com/artworks-...hqa-crop.jpg?1767646 )
- in the Post Reply box, click on 'Insert/Edit image' 5th from the right on the toolbar (next to the smiley) and another window labelled 'Insert/Edit Image' opens
- paste the above URL in the top box, 'Image URL', click on 'Insert' and your image now shows in the Post Reply window, and you can add any text, or do the same again to add a second picture, and so on
( - if you want, you can change the size of the copied image using the 'Appearance' tab in the 'Insert/Edit image' box - I change most of mine to 400 x 400 by entering 400 in the first dimensions box and clicking Insert - you don't have to enter a size for the second side if 'Constrain Proportions' is checked )
- this should work for any image found from another site, and while there's other ways of doing it, that's how I do mine:
Pull down the shade, man. Let's count this money...
