Anybody had this US problem??

Posted by: robbo on 30 December 2011

Unitiserve wouldn't power down from front switch last night so had to resort to unplugging at mains. Switched it back on but it now the front light flashes continually and the Unit doesn't pick it up.  Any ideas of things to try (or am I doomed to a long music-less weekend?? :-( )

Thanks for any advice

This streaming lark can be frustrating......
Other than the old IT gag of turning it off and turning it on again it sounds like a call to your dealer ./ naim could be required..
Maybe worth switching off at the back and leaving it off for a few hours and then trying again.
Sorry cant offer much more than that.

A disk stuck in it?

"Maybe worth switching off at the back and leaving it off for a few hours and then trying again."

Yep, tried that... no luck on that front.

"A disk stuck in it?"

There wasn't, but I (maybe foolishly) put one in to try and kick start it (last resort).  It just swallowed it and continued winking at me.

Luckily I have a few recent CDs knocking around, so not completely music-less over new year.  Also the Beatles remasters on the apple stick... which incidentally is really rather good. Not heard Rubber Soul sound this good since I packed my turntable away (out of the reach of 2yr old's sticky mits...)

Ok, so looks like a call to naim on Monday!

Thanks for the suggestions

At least the Beatles made a lot of albums :-)

I had a similar problem with my new US. It initially swallowed a disc and would not reboot normally so I had to turn it off at the back and then turn it on again. It still did not chuck out he disc but I managed to reboot it normally and at this point it did eject the disc.

I then found out I could have done a manual eject from the front panel. All was well for a couple of weeks and then it stopped reading cds at all and kept saying "no cd present" when there was one in it.

I was very disappointed and it had to go back to Naim but was lucky to get it back before CHristmas.

The fault the second time round was a defective sata optical cable. Touch wood it is now working as it should.

I have never had a Naim product actually go wrong on me before -  but then again you don't expect them to!
