ND5 xs & NAS Blackarmour 110
Posted by: musicus68 on 11 January 2012
Hello to you all!
I'm new at this forum although I've been an extreme fan of naim for years. I lately - short before Xmas - bought the ND5xs. It's a tremendous machine, except ONE thing. I dont get the NAS to work with it properly. It's not on the "passed" list, but maybe any of you's got it and is able to help me with some preferences or etc.?
I'd be pleased to know also, where I can get this NAS simulation software, at what download is it here? I cant find it.
THANK you to you all!

Hi Music, what kind of Nas doe you have? Normally it has the correct sofwtare installed.. It should have UPnP software on it, something like Twonkey will be excellent to have the NAS accessed by your ND5. Iver

what kind of software is installed on the blackarmor?

It is called Media Server, and you can activate and de-activate it. It also says it's compatible with iTunes but it doesnt play any file any more. I was trying to install Twonky ON the NAS (since I dont want a running PC but a stand-alone NAS), which did not work. Although I loaded down the "server software" for NAS of Twonky I wasn't asked for the place WHERE to install it, and it was installed on PC automatically.

Could you turn your NAS in to a Vortexbox - probably not, but if you could it would solve your problems. Vortexbox is free and runs on almost any PC hardware. You may want to consider this as a fuss free alternative.
