Two Issues w/ ND5XS / n-stream

Am the delighted owner of a new system extension comprising an ND5 XS and a DAC (better I found than just an NDX or anything from the Uniti range), but am having two irritating issues with "peripherals".

1. N-stream is not displaying artwork for a lot of the albums on my NAS

2. I'm experiencing increases and decreases in volume on some 24-bit FLACs played from my (temporary) NAS via UPNP.

I've tried all the tricks I could think of with Artwork including embedding and placing files in the album folder with all possible name variations and both .jpg and .png file types. N-stream resolutely refuses to recognize any changes, despite deleting the image cache and re-connecting to the server. None of the files have been in iTunes, or similar. They are all FLAC downloads, mostly 24-bit and mostly from Naim, Linn and B&W.

I'm starting to think the NAS might be at least partly to blame for both problems. Its an old LaCie Network Drive I had lying around. (The Synology boxes I have ordered aren't here yet.)
