HDX Metadata updates

Posted by: AudioSavant on 22 January 2012

I have beem under the impression that the HDX updates it's internal DB of Metadata durring the middle of the night. A multi-part question series if I may please, as it related to this;
a) While this may seem like a stupid question, does the HDX have to be active, or only in standy mode ?
And as most of the content is stored on a NAS, does the NAS have to be online ?

b) If the current DB is missing a number of titles, previously ripped, and due to network security restriction, FreeDB was never seached, when a [port] is opened, will details be populated automaticly, or will individual files have to be corrected one x one?

c) I discovered that although my HDX is visible & active & accesable, wirelessly from my network, the router settings & a feature of the HDX prevent's access to the WAN.  I can manually enter settings to
override this.  Any idea of the port settings for this machine.

Still LOVING the machine...the ease of use, the sound, and the overall experience!
THank you very much.  THE SOUND !!!

a) The HDX needs to be switched on, stand-by will not work. I'm not sure, but I think the same goes for your NAS.
b) I think the easiest way is to use the DTC application. Just right-click on an album and do a DB lookup.
c) I don't really understand your question, do you want to see the HDX internals on your network? Naim has blocked this possibility...

Michel

Michel, I don't think the op's question is about this, but you can read the internal drives of HDX on your network. You can just not write on it.
