Football....What team do you support ??

Posted by: mista h on 23 January 2012

Would love to hear from as many people as pos on this one, including supporters of Non League sides. Lets have any interesting stories from over the  years, the ups and downs, the good bad and the ugly.

I will start the ball rolling and get ready for any abuse that may come my way !!!!

I watched my 1st game at Fulham back in 1954 when the old man took me. He is 86 now but still has his season ticket, and we have both clocked up the Air Miles watching the girls play in europe and little old Fulham getting to the Europa league final in Hamburg.

Something that i still remember from the 70s is a guy that always stood in front of us at home games, smoked Senior Service plain. Always arrived smoking and smoked non stop for 2hrs,never used a lighter,he would just light one cigarette off the other....Yuk

Favorite away grounds.....Spurs and Chelsea, and best of all Villa Park.

Least favorite away grounds.....Newcastle and Old Trafford.

Only problem in our household is my son in law, also a season ticket holder......but at the mob down the road CHELSEA.

You rarely get what you deserve in football. Fantastic game of (truly) two halves. Matched Luon for 20 minutes and then got caught twice on the break and looked in danger of collapse. Needed two obvious changes but didn't make them. Second half the same team showed what if could do. Might be 0-2 but it's a fine balance. Do they attack us or park the bus? Of we get the first goal the Racecourse will be rocking. If we don't the. It's still been one the top four seasons we've had in my lifetime.

Son in law came round last nite. he has booked for the champions league final £499 + cost of match ticket for a DAY TRIP. i would want 2 weeks on the Costas for that money.

Thomas Cook Sport = Total rip off

Air tickets went up from £79 E/W to £200 after the match, as my sister found out. She had got a "deal" for £1500 for 2.

Blue is the colour, football is the game
We're all together and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
Cos Chelsea, Chelsea is our name.

Further to my post earlier today i have just done a Google search Re  Costa del sol holidays.

I can book 14 nites at a 4star hotel with half board for £480.

i think they should change their name from Thomas Cooks to Thomas Crooks

Never across the line, Carroll was a handful though, we just seemed destined to let them back in it

Here we go then. 0-2 down. 90 minutes, at least, to play in front of a capacity crowd. Can we prevent Luon making it back into the football league?

Some time ago my son ( Wednesday supporter) made a provisional hotel booking for the play offs.

Last Thursday his friend ( a Blades supporter) asked him if he still had the reservation.

Made me LOL.

He also told me that Owls /Wycombe tickets had been put on e-bay for £1000. Silly buggers quoted the seating numbers. Wednesday F.C. pulled the tickets.

For reasons that I probably don't need to detail I cannot stand Crawley. A fine example of a club gaining success whilst spending beyond their means. Very glad for them that the Evans era is over. At least the cheating can stop now. Kind of says it all that the players threw a party once he'd gone. I do feel sorry for the fans. When it comes crashing down, and it always does, it's the fans who will suffer for being a vanity project. Sheffield Wednesday are an interesting one. Glad to see them have a good season but do much has been wrong there for so long board wise and financially that they're also a long way off sustainability. Danny is always capable of building a decent team but always struggles to take it to the next level. No-one else here talks Wrexham. After what just happened, nor am I

Beyond our means? How come we made a profit  for the last 2 years?

Posted on: 07 May 2012 by Mike Hughes
Ignorance is bliss BigH. Take a look at Crawleys accounts. The salaries paid are in excess of the revenue received from attendances. How is that sustaibable. The profit derives from sponsorship from some mysterious foreign investors and I think you'll find they haven't "invested" at all. Much like has been revealed recently at Fleetwood it's more likely they have "loaned" the club money; will charge it interest and eventually call in their loan. The scenario is illegal from next year but right now it's a ticking time bomb for you. For Crawley, read Rushden and Diamonds, Fleetwood etc. You can and have bought success but you will pay the probe and kind the above, and I include Chester and Wrexhan, Darlo and Ketterjng in this, you win't see it coming but in the end you'll realise it was so obvious you'll be embarrassed you missed it. As Fleetwood have just discovered all is not rosy and just as they've load three stokers in around two days do you lost Tubbs and DVD other guy as soon as there was any hung they could do it in the league. Also has to be said that the fact Crawley employed Evans speaks volumes as to the morals of the regime! Good luck. Keep a copy of this post and come back to it sometime in the next five years. It will seem horribly prescient.

Should be clear with my last post that no malice intended to Crawley Town fans as it's ultimately they who will suffer when their club goes to the wall.

Oh and apologies for the spelling. Early morning; tiredness; an iPhone and generally poorly eyes are sometimes not the best mix.

Had a very bad day yesterday, first the son in law comes round in his Chelsea top to show me his pics from Barcelona with me having to grit my teeth.

But far worse.....I have been retired almost 5 years now but one of my old suppliers has been superbly kind. Every year when FFC play at Villa he sends me 2 tickets for his box+food+car park permit. Got an e mail from him to say that because Villa have been playing crap he is giving up his firms box and getting a box at Leicester to watch Rugby !!!

As an Everton supporter I think he did a fantastic job, although not quite as good as Graeme Sourness. However, very pleased to hear AVB is in the running.

But, I do agree with you concerning Bayern Munich

It was finishing below Everton that got him the sack
