Football....What team do you support ??

Posted by: mista h on 23 January 2012

Would love to hear from as many people as pos on this one, including supporters of Non League sides. Lets have any interesting stories from over the  years, the ups and downs, the good bad and the ugly.

I will start the ball rolling and get ready for any abuse that may come my way !!!!

I watched my 1st game at Fulham back in 1954 when the old man took me. He is 86 now but still has his season ticket, and we have both clocked up the Air Miles watching the girls play in europe and little old Fulham getting to the Europa league final in Hamburg.

Something that i still remember from the 70s is a guy that always stood in front of us at home games, smoked Senior Service plain. Always arrived smoking and smoked non stop for 2hrs,never used a lighter,he would just light one cigarette off the other....Yuk

Favorite away grounds.....Spurs and Chelsea, and best of all Villa Park.

Least favorite away grounds.....Newcastle and Old Trafford.

Only problem in our household is my son in law, also a season ticket holder......but at the mob down the road CHELSEA.

No, no, no! If you're going to support a Munich team, then it has to be 1860 and not the prima donnas!

I'm hoping the local stadium gets lit up in blue tonight.

Huw, the biggest prima donnas of all are Chelsea, so it has to be Bayern....

Howard,

You must have a happy house?

That last pen was a lesson in how to take em.

One of the best ever imo.

Why does Terry get a medal ?

Stu.

I can watch it now I know the result.

Sister and BOI are in Germany. Colin at his mates house. We could track the match by the sounds from next door.

You have put Adrian's team out of EU next season.

I am glad i did  not bother watching that match. I thought the finale to The Bridge was outstanding

Asolutely.  Superbly written, superbly acted.

Apparently Geoff Shreeves has just phoned Harry Redknapp to tell him that he will not be competing in the Champions League next season

Although I'm a  North London(N1) boy, respect is due: well done Chelsea!

Quite amused that the stereotype of Chelsea as prima donnas lives on despite performances in the latter stages of the CL that cold only have come from a team who have bonded tactically and professionally. Amused at the sour grapes from Spurs fans who honestly think 30 points from 60 means you're unlucky to get a CL place. Equally amused at all the vitriol aimed at Terry. Kind of feel it says more about the people saying it than it does about him. Why can't people enjoy that that was a tactically brilliant performance (again) and a great final which Chelsea won and deservedly so? If the sight of Terry and Gideon spoils your night so then I can't help but feel you're being a little over sensitive. Even more amused that people are commenting on the gulf in class between Terry and Keane and Scholes when they missed the 1999 final. I would offer the opposite perspective. How sad to be so scared of your club and your manager that when you're already put of the final and you have to suffer seeing it won without you you then have to swan around in a suit and thus feel completely aloof from it all. A lot of tragic examples of human kind out tonight. It was a great match. Get over yourselves.

Well done to Chelsea - and a decent game to watch with both sides getting on with the game. I thought Torres made the difference when he came on (why didn't he start). The keeper and two centre halves were outstanding ... And Drogba was excellent. Well done to West Ham too, though in some ways a shame to lose them from the Championship as I enjoyed playing this year.

Thought Cahill and especially Ashley Cole, a player I have never once rated, were outstanding. Chelsea tactics were spot on. Drogba had to start as Chelsea had to withstand the onslaught and then have someone to hold the ball up and give them some respite when the ball broke. It actually didn't work that well but the logic is that you then throw Torres on when they tire. That worked even better than it would have ordinarily because Ribery was off and so Bayern were fatally holed on the right wing and their left back exposed for the first time.

Platini didn't look very happy handing out the medals. And seemed in a virtual hissy fit when passing RDM the winners plaque. Was this not the result (or final even) he wanted then?

Tell me about it. A chap I know is a Spurs fan and all he can comment on (over and over again) is how Chelsea and their fans are a bunch of thugs who aren't very nice to Tottenham fans. it's another nail in the coffin of English football etc.

Like Spurs fans and players have historically all been martyrs, saints and upright pillars of the community...

The fact that Spurs will be playing Thursday night football is an added bonus, not because of anything against Spurs at all (be good if they can win it!) but just because I can now give him failry short comment rather than lengthy monologues in response to his rants...
