Looking for a linux/unix Unicode-capable MP3 encoding tool

Posted by: {OdS} on 25 January 2012

Hello all,

As the title suggests, I'm currently looking for a Unicode-capable mp3 encoding tool which works in linux/unix. I'm currently using lame; it doesn't support writing tags in Unicode format though, which is very unfortunate when ripping albums from parts of the world which don't use Latin alphabet. Audex is supposed to do the job since it uses eyed3 to write tags. All I got by installing it, though, is a partial destruction of my desktop environment and no tags at all. I should add, too, that using another format than mp3 is unfortunately not an option right now.

Any help will be strongly appreciated!
