Mp3 convert to FLAC

It will sound the same as the loss has already happened turning the file into an MP3, this loss cannot be recovered by converting to FLAC.

thanks! guessed so.

 

I did converted some Mp3 to FLAC and it seem to have expanded the file size.

IMHO, i thought that had expand the files but not the sound.

I think it is Meridian, but I may be wrong that has some software that can guess what's missing and put back a good estimate, but it it is not something you can load on a Mac or PC. I've never heard it and, as I say, I'm not 100% sure I got the developers right.

Actually it depends on the MP3 engine; if the one that (de?)codes it into flac is massively better than the one on your streaming device, then yes it'll sound better.  But it'll still sound like an MP3 no matter how good the conversion is and probably the MP3 decoders in most hardware are pretty good these days.
