Help needed with posting pics

I followed the instructions for attaching pics to the forum but still no joy! What appears after the "insert images" is just an icon I can't open in the preview box, I know it must be something to do with the ineffectiveness of my rather old PC - but what! Please, please someone help. I've got some fab system pictures to show you guys!

ps my operating system is windows XP and nothing in microsoft office is more recent than 2003

Graham,

Just copy the URL (direct web address) of the image you wish to show - this has to be web-based - use one of the many free image hosting sites if the images are your own - then paste it in the insert/Edit image pop-up box. Then Post.
