Streaming flac showed as wav on uniti
Posted by: SamSam on 06 February 2012
Hi
I am new in using flac format. As a surprise some of these flac files stored in a nas are showed as wav on the uniti and n- stream. What could be the reason ?

Sam,
It could be that your media server is transcoding to WAV. I know this is an option for Asset for example.

As David says, some NAS will do this.
Is it a Synology model by any chance?

Hi David
Thanks for the trick. In fact I'm using asset Upnp (trial version) and for some reason it happened that I did a wrong setup manipulation. now everything is in order.
By the way is there a proper asset setup to enhance the sound if any?
Cheers. Sam

I don't think there is much you can do to the set up on Asset for SQ apart from keeping the transcode to WAV on. Many say, including Naim, that this is the preferred file format, though you'll find plenty of others who say there's no difference between lossless files. Thanks!

Yep - no difference IMHO :-)
