Is it same as after upgrade the streaming board ?

Why would supported formats be different?

Posted on: 06 February 2012 by PinkHamster

Because the upgraded version streams up to 192/24 - at least for FLAC format.

Sample frequency has nothing to do with format.

The support of 192 kHz is in this case a hardware issue.

SUpported file format is only a matter of software.

So a change of hardware to support 192 kHz is unrelated to file formats

Hi Marcobb

A few weeks ago, I emailed Naim to ask if I could stream AIFF files from a NAS drive to a Naim streamer or UQ:

The reply was:

"... all our new units including Qute (you need to specify the 192kHz/ALAC/AIFF version when ordering) can Stream ALAC/AIFF so your problem is solved, you can then use one folder and all your Apple products will see the music."

Hence, so long as you buy/have the 192kHz/ALAC/AIFF version, you can can rip or download to the NAS in AIFF format, then stream them to Naim devices and Apple macs & mobile devices happily from one, common shared music folder.

Does this answer your question?

Best regards, FT

Hi FT,

Thanks for your information.

I know how to stream the song to the NDX but it display "Can't Play" when i stream that.

I already upgraded the streaming broad and the software version to 3.9.

I will send email to naim support to enquiry this issue.

Thanks,

marcobb

On a similar note -

I have just got my NDX back with the new boards.

The NDC app for the unitiserv still shows in "music library" my FLAC files - however, the streamer can not see them.

Based on comments above they should still work.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Please ignore - I resolved it - was a settings issue.

Hi Phil,

M4a (up to 320kbit/s) only.

TKS...made a big mistake by Mixing the extension (.xxx) and the Quality.

so :

  • M4a till 320
  • Wav till 24/192

Made a conversion of some of my m4a 192 to Wav 192 => just perfect (both Upnp and USB)

So the point will be how to add 192 track on iTunes..without having them translate by itune in m4a

Tks a lot.
