Any comment on this, let discuss

Cat 7 or more properly IEC 61156-5 Class F Category 7 (Screened) falls into two categories

Cat 7 Cable – Supports 10G Base-T standard for bandwidths up to 10 Gbps over a maximum distance of 100 meters. Cat 7 standard can support frequencies in the range of 0-600 Mhz. It offers better performance and improved cross talk suppression over the Cat 6A cables.

Cat 7A (Augmented) Cable – Supports 10G Base-T standard for bandwidths up to 10 Gbps over a maximum distance of 100 meters. In addition to this, they can also support 40 Gbps bandwidth for around 50 meters and 100 Gbps bandwidth for around 15 meters. They support frequencies in the range of 0-1000 Mhz.

Can't see any relevance what so ever for the typical home network unless or typical office network for that matter unless offered at the same price as Cat5 or Cat5e. Equipment that supports 10G Base-T is rather expensive and more industrial rather than for the consumer, where we see some routers and switches struggle to support even 100Mbps correctly.

The main advantage is mitigating the issues with twisted pair pairs closely bundled together ie cross talk. This becomes an issue with high 10Gbps+ bandwidth over longer distances 100metres (0.1km) distances where link (Layer 2) errors can occur due to smearing and coupling. The cross talk is between the send and the receive lines of which there are four seperate circuits at 1Gbps or higher.

In theory, these should sound exactly the same as off-the-shelf CAT5, because they do exactly the same: transport electrons from A to B.

Well, in practice they don't. I've had the chance to listen to them quite extensively, and the improvement over standard cables is stunning...

Before this discussion evolves into an endless discussion of naysayers vs. believers, give them a thorough listen before you dive headfirst into the flamewar...

Max, you are easily fooled. Simple as that. There is no way on gods green earth that they can make any difference to audio.

I am not going to try them. If i told you there is a red london bus on the moon, would you need to check for yourself?

Max, there is no flame war at all... Do you want one? This thread concluded back in February with two posts... Lots of interesting informative discussion on other threads since, not much flaming...

I want one for my Senseo!

Posted on: 14 April 2012 by Max Delissen

Ah...I missed the february date, I thought it was a new discussion because these cables are being released to shops as we speak...my wrong...apologies!

And no, I absolutely don't want to start a flame war. But I've had enough experience on various hifi-forums to know how cable discussions can get out of hand really fast. And the people who start the brawl are usually the ones who theorize but do not listen. It's good to hear that there is a lot of interesting on-topic discussion here for me to check out... Must visit more often, obviously...

@garyi: The 'red London bus on the moon' allegory is quite funny but flawed, because it is impossible to go there and check it out. These cables, on the other hand, are easily tested. All they require is an open mind...

Sorry for stirring up this post...I'm off to look for the more extensive threads on this subject...

But at some point Max an open mind kind of slips into naïvety does it not?

The real risk for us audiphiles is we expose our stupidity to the world, at the end of the day there has always been a tenous link with analogue cables and connection methods etc, its plausable.

But a 1 metre length of cat 7 with some pretty braid on is stupidity mate. You believed you heard a difference, and after all thats all it takes for companies to succeed. But keep it to yourself because everyone else is laughing at us.

if you can spend 400 on a mains cable why onot on cat cables everyone to their own

Posted on: 15 April 2012 by pcstockton

Whatever.... I am holding out for CAT14.

Didn't you just have a go at someone else for irrelevant, passive aggressive posts? This thread is nothing to do with Apple or iTunes, so it's hard to know why you felt the need to add that comment.

If you're so anti-Apple, you'll find it better for your blood pressure if you just avoid Apple-related threads.
