So did I and what a relief it was!!

The extra tracks aren't there but it doesn't matter (kept a CD copy for the car).

Much better sound and a restored version of No Quarter without some of the wonderful guitar solo chopped off.

And the Classic sounds, well - classic.

Cheers

David

True words!

I never felt that SRtS captured them at their best regardless of SQ. BBC sessions is my pick. G

Good call GraemeH.

But that baby on Classic is 200g.

And I don't mean grams - I mean guineas!!!

You got a copy?

I've got an unplayed copy......I often get tempted to shift it especially at that price

First refusal please Lontano.

And a bit of a discount!!

Excuse my ignorance, but are all classic 200g / same quality? Listening to LZ 2 right now and it says classic. Sounds awesome (but then again, most things do on the P9

LZ2 on any decent TT will always sound good, even better if original pressing, whereas SRTS has always been a terrible recording and subsequent releases, digital or digi-analogue, are hard to swallow.

My ears are still to be convinced.

Just doing a sound comparison with original pressing now
Posted on: 16 February 2012 by robbo
Original is Slightly richer, tad less open maybe. More organic sounding. Maybe just cos I've been listening to this one for the last 30 yrs or so, but sounds better to my ears Love 'em both

Robbo, not all I have found. I have a number of the Led Zeps and they are quite special but I have a copy of Tull's Aqualung and it is very poor. For that I have a DCC copy which is very fine. I am tempted by the new 'remaster' but it is very expensive!

I wonder why... I guess the LZ master tapes were still in good condition, less so for JT?

I think that is true but the pressing quality was dreadful. Very noisy! I was really really disspointed.

I've got it, it is absolutely incredible SQ - four LPs, each in its own sleeve and inner and a polythene outer, plus an insert in a nice sturdy box. If you love Zeppelin it's well worth forking out for.

I have all the LZ Classic vinyl reissues and love all of them - the only one which is bettered by the other pressings is my ITTOD, which I have on Pioneer Japanese vinyl (first pressing) which sounds pretty good.

The Classic TSRTS destroys the 4-LP box version. Not only does it have better PRaT but it's also got the superior "No Quarter" and the better "Whole Lotta Love". Plus you don't have to turn the record over halfway through "Dazed & Confused"

Well worth seeking out, as are all the Classic Zeps.

Stu,

I liked it pretty much, but then I got my hands on the CLASSIC edition...
