nStream - FLAC format tracks displayed in wrong order

Posted by: Peter W on 19 February 2012

My nStream displays FLAC tracks in alphabetical order instead of the original order in the album.

I use QNAP 219 pro II with the pre-installed Twonky server.

Tracks are ripped like this: [album artist]\[album name]\[track number] - [track title]

With WAV files, nStream displays properly according to track number, showing:

01 - Catherine

02 - Alex

03 - Brian

but with FLAC files the numerical prefixes (track numbers) are gone, becoming:

Alex

Brian

Catherine

I tried to search old posts but have found nothing too useful. Is there anyway I can have the tracks displayed in the correct order?

Many thanks.

I forgot to mention that I have this problem when I am searching "by folder". If I search "by album" then the track order is fine. However I prefer "by folder" because I already have hundreds of CDs ripped in WAV format which cannot be found "by album".

Take a look at yout metadata. I guess that the track name has been taken over but the track number have not. The sorting is no longer performed along the folder/file structure but n-stream will now look at the tags where they are available.

Thanks for reminding me to check the metadata. The track number prefixes were not in the metadata. I manually added the track numbers and the orders are fine now! OK, it is a bit tedious to add track numbers manually, but at least this is a good solution for now.

I'll say.
