And another great sounding  vinyl LP that takes me up to number 7 on the black stuff.

Glad your happy with your set, Stu.

Although musically and sonically very nice (in places) the boxfull I had were so bad with extraordinary loud clicks, snap, crackle and pop - and not to mention the humongous great warping that made my dynovector sea sick, they really are the most complete rubbish pressings I’ve ever had the misfortune to waste money on…

Well almost, sent them back and got a refund! :<

Stu,

If you use the comma in my last sentence it reads that I did send them back ; )

Had to send my set back too, it did sound good but one lp was scratched - bloody annoying.  I sent mine back and got a refund, it sounded nice but I find Gilmores's solo stuff a tad bland.

Gary

Ps Thomas Dolby, golden Age of Wireless sounds really good and the vInyl isincredibly thin. Just goes to show that when the artist cares about sound they can get it right.

My ten (I think) :-

Yello "Baby"

Joe Cocker "Sheffield Steel"

The Boston Pops/ Arthur Fielder "Gershwin: American in Paris & Rhapsody in Blue"

Mary Black "No Frontiers"

Anything But The Girl "Idlewild"

Eva Cassidy "Songbird"

Jethro Tull "Songs from the Wood"

Fairground Attraction "First of a Million Kisses"

Dave Brubeck "Time Out"

Moody Blues "Days of Future Passed"

The Gershwin's probably the best. Rhapsody in Blue's incredibly dynamic - it'll blow your socks off!

A couple are on heavyweight vinyl but I'm convinced it makes diddly-squat difference to sound quality. The Yello is my favourite test record. The first track particularly has a sudden walloping conclusion that, it seems, only active systems can reproduce properly.

Stu, I have the same 3 albums and you are right!

All my vinyl is old, and original UK pressings, apart from a small number of MFSL Half Speeds. Those are extremely quite - but I thinks its an unfair comparison. So... I will stick just to my UK originals.

In no particular order:

Pink Floyd - Dark Side

Cream - Wheels of Fire

Richard & Linda Thompson - Shoot Out The Lights

Pink Floyd - The Wall

Deep Purple - Machine Head

Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti

Led Zeppelin - IV

Dire Straits - 1st

Genesis - The Lamb

Queen - Night at The Opera

Derek & The Dominos - Layla

Will that do...??

I have to agree with Tonym.

Yello Baby is still my fave bit of vinyl.

Its so thin you might hear side two when playing side one

It only cost me £1.00
