Advice on Fraim Height With NDX or NDS

Posted by: CDI on 03 March 2012

I have now got my new Zoneripper max 4TB and was intending to have it sitting on the sideboard next to my 5 level fraim (all standard height) bu it is much bigger than I thought.

I have a 6th fraim level which when tried with the CDS3 in place seemend to ruin the sound.

The Zoneripper Max is almost too deep to fit on the fraim but looks rather ugly on my sideboard

My question is regarding the placement of either NDX or NDS (I am planning to replace CDS3 with either), has anyone used one on a 6 level Fraim? I imagine it would be less of an issue than the CDS3?

I would obviously prefer to split to 2 racks but dont have the space

Was intending, from the bottom - Zoneripper, Supercap, XPS2, 250.2, 252, NDX / S - should the 252 go on top?

Interesting question. I found the ndac and ndx sensitive to support. The NDS might be less so because of its improved mechanical isolation.

For what it worth I have my network player on a dedicated frame (its easier to keepthat noisy Ethernet lead away from everything else), also the ndac seems to sound best this way.

Bottom up:

Fraim base: 555 PS

Fraim tall level; NDX

Fraim small level: NDAC.

I suspect combining everything into one rack you will have to accept a compromise. In which case keep the amps and powersupplies bottom, and your best source top.

I use a stack of 6 Fraims with a dps turntable in top and it works fine for me. Dps Superline/Hicap NDX 282 250 PSUs
