iPAd vs iPhone for N-Stream

Posted by: Dungassin on 15 March 2012

Here's a little question for those of you who own both iPhone and iPad.  I'm currently using my iPhone 3GS to control my NDX, but am occasionally annoyed by the fact that the list display (e,g.in Album/Artist) does not scroll on an individual track to let you see which one it is if the title/info is lengthy.  I know you can get this info by playing the track, but occasionally (usually when editing metatags) it's nice to see which one of several options is actually wrong!

So ... is the iPad display just a larger view of that shown by the iPhone, or does it actually show more information across the screen?  I think I know what the answer is going to be.

The iPad display is better. I listen to a lot of classical music and the iPhone version of the nStream app stinks for that. I use the iPad version instead. n-Stream seems a work-in-progress to me.

Is the iPad faster than the iPod.?  I'm tired of looking at little spinning things while waiting for lists to load. And does the iPad battery last any longer than my iPod that I don't dare leave fully on for a whole evening's listening?

Oh for a Windows or Android version so I can use something with a bit of oomph rather than an over priced under powered toy (dons crash helmet and body armour ).

Me too (along, with a lot of other stuff).  You haven't answered the question "does the iPad display more (text) information?"

Yes it does. It's not just a big iPhone screen. It takes advantage of the added screen real estate.

I prefer the iPad to any phone - no annoying callers ringing up when you are doing your best to put together a playlist of Napalm Death's more melodic moments.

I prefer the iPad display. It's bigger and easier to navigate.i am not sure it displays any more info though?

Also if you find the performance is slow, the chances are that is because of the upnp server is holding things back. I run Asset on a micro WHS machine and performance is almost instant .. Certainly no rotating  wait icons other than very briefly (<2 secs) at start up, or iPad wake-up.

I'll ask my youngest daughter to install n-Stream on her iPad Mk1, and I'll compare it when they visit us in April.  If it really does show more info, then I'll consider getting an iPad myself - purely as a controller!
