Mac Mini as NAS

My pc sounds better at streaming files to my streamer than the Synology NAS. Both became better once I converted the files to wav instead of having software do the conversion on the fly.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience running the MacMini as a NAS device. I do not want to use it's optical out to a dac.

This way I can stick the Mac Mini in a closet instead of leaving my work PC on all the time. Let's not get into MFV arguments.

You're hearing things. Get a friend to switch between the NAS and PC without telling you which is the source and I'll take a substantial bet that you won't be able to tell the difference.
