Control volume with Desktop Client?

I realize this is not the primary purpose of the Desktop Client but it's actually a more convenient interface than the touchscreen on the HDX itself.  I can play CDs/songs on my HDX from the Desktop Client software but I can't adjust the volume.  I realize that is a function of the 252 preamp, which has an analog connection to the HDX, but I'm just wondering what would be involved?

I have got an HDX which I control with an Ipod touch and the n-Serve app.  This is fine for everything but volume control.

Do you have an IR remote control for your amp?  If so, there's a good piece of kit called Redeye Remote.  It's basically an interface between IR and you home wifi network and also comes with an Ipod app.  Costs about GBP 180.  You place the base station where it can see the IR eye of your amp and then configure it to log-in to your wifi network.  Then, through the apps on your Ipod, you can control both music selection and volume, as well as source selection on your amp for that matter.  It's a little inconvenient to have to toggle between the two apps but it's a reasonable solution for not much money.  Works equally with an Ipad.

Intersting info - I'll look up Redeye Remote.  Not an iPhone or iPad user so they aren't an option at present.

The Redeye Remote is on your home network so you can also control it from a laptop or pc but, once again, you have to switch between Desktop Client to select music and Redey Remote to control volume and source.
