n-Stream and Flac tracks in alphabetical order.Any ideas?

Hi everybody, new to this forum and its a pleasure reading some really interesting threads!

So  I thought I might also get some help over here...

My local Naim dealer has kindly handed me over a ND5 XS demo unit to play with.Construction is solid, features are more than enough for me and performance meets my expectations.

After testing the toy for a few days, I decided to order one.But before this happens, I got a NAS drive to start ripping my collection, since all my music stays in silver discs up to now.And thats where my trouble begins...My NAS drive is a 2-bay Western Digital (WD) Live Duo, with a couple of 3TB hard drives.I rip my CDs using dbPoweramp, secure ripping, carefully tagging each one etc

The ND5 XS is wired to the local network and easily recognizes and "communicates" with the NAS drive.Unfortunatelly, when I select an album from WD to be playbacked, all tracks are presented in alphabetical order, not as meant originally by the artist and tagged during ripping.

When I see the actual files in my PC, the tracks are properly tagged and in the right order.Copying some albums from WD to a different hard disc and then served to Naim streamer results in flawless reproduction, no problem whatsoever.Change again to WD and same albums, alphabetical it is!

I believe that no serious music lover would accept this situation and since I paid a considerable amount of money for the NAS drive and stuck with it, this could finally be a deal breaker for the ND5XS.

But I like the d@mn thing and want one!

Any ideas, suggestions, relevant experiences would be much appreciated!

Hello, I have been here before you. As others have written, twonky is utterly wonky. Go in to your settings and disable it. Download Asset UPnP from dbpoweramp on to a pc. Point that at your western digital and let it scan. Then select asset on the Naim streamer. The bad news is that the processor on WD cannot run Asset. As others have written you need a proper server such as vortex box or asset nas. Otherwise you always have to have a pc running. Welcome to the club of those with a useless WD nas. David

I must say that reading this makes me glad I chose a 2TB Vortexbox for the princely sum of £269.99. It's not perfect (some discs don't rip, but I think that can happen with other systems anyway). However, it's a ripping and NAS solution that serves to Nstream (no blocky art on Ipad), Sonos, Squeezebox etc. I just put the disc in for ripping and wait for it to eject, or drag and drop downloaded files. I can back up to or restore from a USB Drive at the touch of a button. That cost £90, so the total outlay was under £360, which I think is pretty decent. I guess it could have been cheaper if I'd used my own old computer to run Vortexbox.

As stated earlier in this thread, it is indeed Twonky that f...s it all up. Strangly it works with the old 24/96 board in the NDX, but not with the new 24/192.....?

Use asset, as recommended by Naim, and it all works fine.
