Plex Media Server

Posted by: 0rangutan on 30 March 2012

The latest beta 0.9.6 of the Plex Media Server has just been released and adds DLNA compliant UPNP functionality.  This is available for Mac and Windows and might just be a great UPNP server option for Uniti family devices.  Through the use of Soundflower, it also appears to be able to capture audio from a Mac, so some potential for streaming other audio and applications too.

Unfortunately, my Qute is still off being upgraded and so I am unable to test this.

If anyone else gets a chance to install Plex and have a play, please can you share your experiences?

Thanks!

I'm testing it and it works like a charm.

Better than Playback : I got album cover now on n-stream and it's pretty fast

Full cover art or 100x100 resolution files?

FYI plex server will run on the latest snaps so no need for a computer to be on.

If plex only had a decent inlayer I would be using it over XBMC, but inlayer is crap on plex.
