Gary Lineker's son

Posted by: Dungassin on 03 April 2012

I see the self-appointed football guru is complaining about his son's failure to get into university and blaming his school.  Far more likely (IMO) that :

a. He's not bright enough

b. He didn't do any work for his exams.

c. He spent too much time partying.

d. All of the above.

Completely with you on this. It saddens me immensely that society is even remotely interested in anything a f^%$ing "celebrity" thinks about anything at all. Assuming that celebrities do actually "think" at all. Available evidence seems to point against that notion for most.

Stepmother?  I don't know who she is.  A situation reminiscent of Bill's stepmopther (Missy) in Bill & Ted?

Now that was an excellent adventure, dude.

I think it is wrong to knock football pundits who appear on the TV - without them how would I understand the finer points of the game; recently Gary said, when a player was about to take a penalty "He'll want to score with this" and went on to add "the goalkeeper won't want to let this in" - the man is psychic. In what other walk of life are people so perceptive and factual and see both sides of the dilemma. .

As Kevin Keegan said when England drew 0-0 away "A nil all draw away, you can't really do better than that".

Just to make it clear ... I would sooner listen to SWMBO telling me my many (according to her) faults, than watch a football match.  I'm that strange bloke who doesn't particularly like sports, and thinks that Cricket is the English cure for insomnia.

I emplore you, Mr Dungassin, sir to listen to Mr Vivian Stanshall - don't like Cricket indeed .... unless you follow the line I don't like cricket with I love it then I'm truly mystified.  The summer without cricket is line the village green with no church steeple, like Laurel without Hardy, like Morecambe with Wise, Little with Large, Hope without Keen, like Callard without Bowser or Chas with Dave .... life without cricket would be dull indeed ..... how could I survive in this world of endless talent shows, soap operas, cooking programmes and history (didn't anything happen in the past other than pointless wars; history programmes are, of course, only surpassed in their tedium by historic dramas: I mean what did the Romans ever do for us?) - who is in the least bit interested in history - unless it be the history of the noble summer game. The only cricket now on the BBC is the wonderful test match special on five live, and it is left to that last bastion for the intellectual: channel 5 to show highlights in between the hotel inspector meets the 30 makeover king and car boot sale special.

And perhaps if I may further intrude, I would like to nominate this as one of my most favourite LPs

The lads are 154-1 in reply to Sri Lanka's 275 a.o. - how can you say you don't like cricket?

Love Viv Stanshall. Can't stand cricket.

I detest cricket. It's one of the few sports I just cannot watch and it seems to get coverage on the BBC way out of proportion to its national popularity.

Dung,

 Gary's son?

Is it the same son that had Blood  Cancer at a very young age and spent years of his youth in and out of hospital fighting?

Stu.

Funnily enough, in spite of what I said, I didn't mind playing cricket, it was just watching it that was soul-destroying.  However, I don't think it any more enjoyable to play than "rounders"  (that's like Baseball for our transatlantic readers)
