You don't get 6 months for burglary...

???? I am a probation office working in the Youth Offending Service for some 10 years . Sorry Derry your statement is just not true.
Regards Graham.
So what is the sentence for a first time burglar?
edit: CPS sentencing guidelines for "category 3" seems to be community order rising to 26 weeks custody?
The elite running the show are sending out a clear message to the plebs...don`t f*** with the establishment!

Indeed. My first thought on learning of the sentence was that the 'offender' would have been better off committing a burglary.
Ah; but the bleeding Olympics was soooooo important to keep the populace amused and distracted. Can't understand why I missed all of the (hugely expensive) inconsequential running and jumping about.
John.

Hi Derry.
I think you will find that's for adults i.e over 18 at the point of sentence. By the way I am not defending the judge's decision in this case I think it was outrages and totally disproportionate to the crime and in my view not in the interests of justice, or freedom of expression .
Graham.
I thought the judge's overturning of the Home secretary's decision to deport Oldfield back to Australia was the right one, and reflects well on British society.
Oldfield's family would have been broken up had Theresa May got her way. Judge Kevin Moore recognised this saying, "There is no doubt as to your character and commitment and the value you are to UK society generally. [....]. It would be my intention to allow your appeal."

His assertion that Australia is a racist society was pretty well spot-on. A generalisation, of course, but there continue to be very disturbing xenophobic and nationalistic tendencies displayed by politicians and public alike. (I am Australian, but will never return to live there)
