newbie question re NDX/NDS control

Am I right in thinking that the ipad controls the NDX/NDS via the network... ie talks to the router which then relays the command to the streamer?

If so then the streamer could potentially sit anywhere in the house?

Hi Robbo -

Yes, you can separate your audio setup from your NAS, UPnP service, router, ripper, and so on, using an Ethernet cable.   Most of my stuff is in a closet about 40' and two rooms away from my Naim setup.  My ripper is a laptop in yet another room, but all are connected via the network.

Your iPad is wireless, and if you download the n-Stream software, you can use it to control the NDX .  In addition, if your run an RCA cable from your NDX to your Naim amp (the modern black ones, that is), you can also use n-Stream for input selection and volume control (Naim calls this "system automation").

All of this makes the choice of listening chair or couch very important, as there is rarely a need to get up.

Good luck!

Indeed it would seem! :-)

I'd like to run the lounge setup from the main listening room... ok, so that bot works :-)

The bit I'm still struggling with is connecting 2 pairs of speakers (listening room + lounge) to one source.... not sure if that is possible without going naimnet.  I'd ideally though like to have no equipment in the living room except a pair of speakers driven from NDX/NDS in main listing room...  some thinking to do!
