Airplay is not coming

Posted by: Elija123 on 12 April 2012

Today I was at my hi-fi dealer in Bremen, Germany and asked for news concerning airplay integration. He phoned the Naim Headquarter in Germany and they didn't know anything concerning airplay integration in Naim products and that it therefore could also be that it will never come. As a consequence my hi-fi dealer told me that even if airplay is coming it would not be before the end of the year if the Headquarter in Germany doesn't know anything about it.

That's really really bad news. Now I can start to look elsewhere for a high-end all-in-one streamer like the Unitiqute. And I really don't understand it. Naim develops a whole range of streaming devices and then doesn't integrate airplay although Apple is selling hundreds of million idevices per year. All in all I am really disappointed.

Windows?  You must be joking. What a mess.

Dont forget that those of us on the other side of the equation feel EXACTLY the same about Mac OS.  It pains me every time I use a Mac.

Think about it....  how many people do you know running a Mac OS on a PC?  I have never seen it although i know it can be done.  There are PLENTY of people, many in this forum, that run Windows on their Macs.  There are also those who have taken a perfectly good Mac running its OS and turned it into a Linux machine.

iOS on the other hand is the "Mac Method" finally realized.  It is as if everything was leading up to this.  It is so good.

Others turn in a really horrible PC running Windows in to a great one running Vortexbox (Linux) and sit back in self admiration listening to Amon Duul II's Tanz Der Lemmings and thinking what a truly great album this is. VB is very Apple like - it just works

I don't think either side is going to convince the other, I'll never willing use Windows others will - it is what makes the world go around - so I'm with young Richard on this.

To be honest, I think you get identical bitstreams out of a PC with an appropriate sound card or a Mac Mini - the software player is an irrelevance if the files are the same and you go for bit perfect playback. The only advantage the Mac has is it just works - otherwise the end result is the same.

In the mean time, I'm advocating wearing dark clothes or as Suzy Creamcheese might have said "The good thing about VB software is it is Absolutely Free, but only if you want it to be".
