sound quality /interface ease of set up
thanks!
W4S Sonos Connect (ZP90) is as good as anything around for streaming CD rips through a high quality DAC such as the Naim - it's easy to set up and has a superb user interface
SB Touch can play high resolution files, which can sound better than CD rips.If you want to play those then your choice is made.
A Mac Mini will sound as good as either when used with a Naim DAC.
You'll find fans of all three hereon - if you are not going to use a DAC then I'm not knocked out by my Sonos as a pure analogue player, but it is better than the Mac Mini in its analogue form. I've not heard the SBT as a pure analogue source.
The DAC is more important than the streamer in my view.
Can't comment on the Squuzebox, but I love my Sonos system (ZP90 downstairs into main system, ZP120 in bedroom into Monitor Audio BR1's).
I will beat all of the other cranks to the punch....
get rid of the Arivas, nothing else matters prior to that.
A pair of gasket-less, old ass, disassembled MK1 SBLs are all you need. Make sure you use the correct silicone (it is directional), and good luck finding the aluminum pads etc... And NEVER plan on moving them at all.
Stu???

Haven't heard the Sonos but I'm using a SBT into nDAC - most enjoyable. Also agree with pcstockton get some SBLs - wonderful and you won't need to change speakers ever again.
@ Maxi me
You compared the Sonos analog out to the NDAC analog out in another thread.
May I confirm : you are now happy with your ZP90 analog out only (and you gave back the NDAC?)
How does the ZP90 only compare to your CD5?
What about the ZP120, how does it compare to your Naim rig?
@ analogmusic
DAC was only on a short term loan, so yes, it has gone back. I've arranged to borrow it again once it's been run in some more. The DAC was just starting to be better than ZP90 analogue, but not by much, certainly not GBP 2k better!
I do like the ZP90 and bringing the NAS downstairs and hard-wiring via ethernet has made an improvement. The Sonos interface is very good, I use the old chunky coffee table remote or the desktop client.
CD5 is better than the ZP90, but it's not dramatically so (to me and my ears in my system). I tend to use the ZP90 for convenience and the CD5 on the (rare these days) occasions when I can sit down and concentrate.
The ZP120 upstairs is only used for casual listening in the bedroom. It plays out via some Monitor Audio BR1's and is an engaging listen. The speakers in particular are fairly compromised in their position, sitting just outside my PC monitor very close to the rear wall and storage cabinets on either side. Nonetheless, when doing the ironing or playing my PC, I don't feel I missing huge amounts compared to the main rig downstairs (although I do notice if I go and listen to the same thing straight away).
