spotify / mac mini save money

Posted by: sjw on 25 April 2012

i was about to buy squeezebox touch ...mainly to use spottily on a mac mini feeding dac and pre power

then I came across spot remote

you put spottily premium on your mac

add download spot remote on to the mac it puts small server on the mac

put the spot remote app on iPad or iPhone  fiddle a bit and off you go for a few dollars

its a bit basic you have to search for artists/albums you want but works well/shows album artwork

but sounds fine

I've no idea if this is against rules etc but these days its all about saving money and also experimenting a bit

you can have a free trial of spottily premium though i think they are being a bit naughty as you have to cancel if you don't want it and have to OPT out

I hate that sort of approach but i was going to get it anyway

sjw, are you saying that you can play spotify through your mac mini to dac to amps? I had the free 24 hour trial of spotify and through the app remote was able to stream through dac and amp via airport express from an iPhone or iPad but chose not to get spotify premium because I could not find a way to play through system direct from mac mini?

If this is possible then I think spotify premium is a bargain at about £10 per month!
