I have many favourites - no doubt you do too. Here is one to get the ball rolling.
film 'Amadeus'
Serenade For Winds, K.361: 3rd Movement by W.A.Mozart.

I can't find it but in "Being John Malkovich" there's a puppet dance scene to a Bartok piece that is just manic.

Classic score by Miklos Rozsa - El Cid

As someone who has been collecting film scores, etc. for approx. 40 yrs I have hundreds of those "Magical Movie Music Moments" ... most of which I have on CD! Examples being:
- Out of Africa - John Barry: the flying sequence when Robert Redford's Denys takes Meryl Streep's Karen for a flight ... this scene is probably the most recalled scene mentioned to me by acquaintances over a number a years
- On Her Majesty's Secret Service - John Barry: when JB007 escapes from Piz Gloria and the searchlight comes on ...
- Indecent Proposal - John Barry: when Robert Redford's John explains to Demi Moore's Diana how he was besotted with a girl on a train in his youth. Up to this point his character had been the villain of the piece ... this single scene, accompanied by Mr. Barry's variation of his main theme, transforms him in the eyes of the viewer
- Sneakers - James Horner: when Robert Redford's Marty and his team are celebrating success in obtaining the decoder ... and realisation dawns that this is not just a decoder
- Gigi - Louis Jordan's Gaston realises that he is in love with Gigi. M. Jordan's singing may not be great but it is perfect for the role
- High Society - Frank Sinatra & Bing Crosby: Well Did You Evah? ... musical perfection (in a film which is almost perfect)
- Raise the Titanic - John Barry: when Richard Jordan's Dirk walks through the grand ballroom of the ship and we hear that wonderful main theme played softly with such melancholy
- Quigley Down Under - Basil Poledouris: the main title theme which takes us from the sailing ship to Tom Selleck's Quigley about to disembark ... and we know we're in for some fun
- Where Eagles Dare - Ron Goodwin: main title theme as the plane flies over the snow-capped mountains; later in the race to the airfield when the same theme is modified
- The Deep - John Barry: in the opening sequence (titles) ... this is what it should sound like when swimming underwater!
- The Magnificent Seven - Elmer Bernstein: when Yul Brynner's Chris and Steve McQueen's Vin ride the hearse up to Boot Hill
and, and, and ...

Musicmad,
Great stuff! I've seen all those with the exception of 'Quigley Down Under' - you certainly like your John Barry. I have searched on youtube for my favourite music clip from a Bond film but alas it does not exist. Dances with Wolves is probably my favourite John barry.

Oh, yes!

Dances With Wolves is a superb score but, strangely, I don't find it quite such a good listen on CD. But that's just in comparison to the majority of his other scores ...

Me too, in fact after the Zulu’s and The Male Welsh Choir made the main film soundtrack in the film 'Zulu', they let John Barry fill in bits left over!

Another one of my favorites from one of my favorite directors, Robert Altman, with one of the most beautiful and unusual scores ever in a "mainstream" American film, by Gerald Busby.

A pair of favorite films by Pedro Almodovar, with favorite scores by Alberto Iglesias ...
Hable Con Ella (Talk To Her)

Fama,
Thanks for the link for 'Nowhere to hide' it looks like a stylish movie so I am downloading it now.
Fred,
I will give 3 women a go too - a bold move by the director to include such music and I am also trying to get hold of Hable Con Ella on the basis of that music clip alone. Thanks.

Not so keen on the vinyl care, but...
"I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. "

Superman opening credits
Still a hairs on the back of the neck moment for me, more than thirty years later. My all time favourite movie theme.
