Queensland Flooding

Posted by: anderson.council on 13 January 2011

Hello to all Queensland forumites.

As some of you may remember I lived in Brisbane for 13 years and still have colleagues & friends living there.

Hope all forum members are not too badly affected and that the worst is over - although who knows what will happen if it starts to rain again.

One of our friends who lives a few streets away reported this morning that our house in Balmoral escaped flooding although others only 4 properties away in the street did get hit.

Thinking of you all at this horrendous time.

Has the worst passed?
I hope all are as well as can be expected.

Our thoughts are with you all.

A friend of mine moved to Buderim Qld in Oct.

He says the rain is astonishing but fortunately Buderin is high in the hills so his feet are still dry.

But friends of his have lost everything.

Amazing.

You can see the extent of the flooding on this mapping imagery web site. From what I understand the QLD government requested a flyby just after the peak. You can see that Brisbane was relatively lucky compared with some of the other towns but never the less it's still a huge mess.
