I have a lot of her other albums but it is a part of my collection that has not got the attention it probably deserves. I saw her play last year with Charlie Haden Liberation Orchestra and she was very impressive.

I am in general aggrement with Ewen, and your live experience Mark.

After only one listen, The Cataldo was decent, competent, pleasant and enjoyable, but will need some more listens to determine how often it returns to the playlist. Sounds like Eric mostly solo acoustic. Doesn't stand out from the crowd of music available but generally enjoyable.

The Old Believers have potential. It is my understanding they are very young, still in their teens ? The female voice is very good, the male voice is acceptable but I think the inexperience shows here as he seems to not know what usage would work best in a given situation. The songs are decent though hopefully will develop further with more experience. Raw talent at this point, unfocused and trying to find its way, as Ewen said. But may be worth keeping an eye, and ear, on.

Will be playing it some more (both on same cd-r) over the next few days.

Jeff,

Cataldo - I'll go slightly against you here only in the fact that I think he worked so well live. I loved his on-stage demeanour and he drew a lot of appreciation from the local crowd. Yes, a bit samey but I liked him a lot. Would I pay to go and see Eric Anderson again, well yes. And I hope that my comments would give him a small amount of good press for what he is trying to do.

The Old Believers - perhaps I have jumped the gun here. No female voice when I saw "them", but yes a very young group I think. Definitely inexperienced in the fact that he kept forgeting the words to the songs, but he had a certain charm about him.

I came across my 3" cd single of Locomotion the other day, and realised it had been far too long since I had played some of their stuff!

Not as an original purchase, although there were plenty of other questionable purchases!

Might have come in from one of the car boot purchases though.
