What do you think Denis?

Along with 'Old Ramon' the final album with/as the Red House Painters, 'April' is my favourite album my Mark Kozelek.

A bit early to say as i've only played it once, as well as Little Drummer Boy - Live. I really like Ghosts On The Great Highway, with it's Neil Young electric geetar vibe. More purchases next year I fancy.

A 3CD set featuring songs from the four shows at the Hammersmith Odeon in January/February 1978, assembled by Joe Travers into a full show sequence plus encores. Many of the Basic tracks on Sheik Yerbouti came from these shows but this set includes alterantive preformances only.

This is a great set. Much better than the recent albums issued by ZFT, particularly 'Congress'.

I went to three nights of the run at Hammersmith odeon in 1978. The band were magnificent. Friend of mine taped the three shows with portable cassette recorder protruding through the front of his coat. It's great to have this music in good audio quality at last. On the night that 'Pound For A Brown' and 'King Kong' on the CD set were drawn, FZ was feeling unwell and he left the stage while his band took solos, hence the extended versions of these two numbers. FZ was not pleased about Tommy Mars' 'Hail Caesar' invocations towards the end of 'Pound For A Brown'. He brought the number to an abrupt halt and informed the audience that 'Tommy has just f***** up that number' and they moved onto 'I Have Been In You'. FZ's displeasure at Tommy Mars has been edited out of the 3CD set (LOL)

My only gripe about this and other ZFT releases is the price. £48 for three discs is steep.

Sony dvd player > Arcam rDAC

picked up the new rDAC today, been playing about 2 hours now. have ordered a Wireworld Ultraviolet 7m USB cable to use as a usb connection from the MacBook Pro. I will enjoy having this upgrade from the basic Beresford dac that served me well for the past few years.

Nice one Jeff,
Let me know how the new DAC sounds at the weekend?
Stu

Thanks, Stu. Impressive right out of the box, dealer said it won't settle in for 72 hours. It was within my modest means and will allow me to use the MacBook via asynchronous USB, which I am hoping is a more glitch-free hard wire connection than the mini-toslink from mac head-phone out has been.
