Prompted by a few earlier posts, an old forum favourite:

FAO Elton John completists, he's on the new Kanye West album. No, really he is.

I have to confess that the album has huge sentimental value for me but I would still recommend it wholeheartedly.

It is, for me, the peak of everything that is magical about Charlie Parker, the Verve label and jazz in general. It is infused with liberal doses of bouyancy & zetgeist and remains, after over 20 years, the album I would rescue first if my house were on fire.

Gordon

PS - Features Oscar Peterson, Barney Kessel,Benny Carter, Ray Brown & Ben Webster. Recorded in 1952 and produced by Norman Granz...Talk about pedigree!

PPS - Selected highlights can be found on Spotify listed as 'The Legendary 1952 jam sessions' or even better as 'The complete Charlie Parker Jam Sessions 2010'

OK, I won't bother. (Joking Gordon, and thanks for the write up and explanation).

I bought Two vinyl copies the day it came out @ HMV Oxford St. One of them is still sealed Smile

I think this is Rogers best creation - with floyd or solo.

Schoneberg (Tony De Vit Mix)

The last track ever played at the legendary 'Trade' nightclub at Turnmills in London ( my second home for most of the late 90's)

quote:
Absolutely legendary cut from the late Tony De Vit. If you ever missed the man himself play or are perhaps too young to remember his influence you should check out one of the most seminal cuts in hard dance history.
