What do you think Redkev ?

This is my first listen to Schumann's Symphonies and I have to say I am really enjoying them. I can't compere them to other recordings but I think these are excellent. Are there any other recordings that are worth exploring?

Haim,

Second that. Joao Pires is a terrific Mozartian.

Have you heard the Beethoven violin sonatas she recorded with Augustin Dumay?

Claude

Claude,

The only Pires/Dumay disc I have is the Brahms violin sonatas which seems to be a more recent recording:

Well I hope it was worth all the effort? Winker

Just in time too as you can enjoy the Polish Christmas lullaby heard in the middle of the 1st scherzo !

By the way, I forgot to ask where you picked up that maria Joao Pires Mozart. I've never seen this Denon recording? It must precede the Deutsche Gramophone Mozart recordings from around 1989/1990 by some time as she looks very young there....

Enjoy,
Doug

Doug,

Appreciate the effort and the music. I ended up with four Pogorelich discs, all of them a treat to the ear.

After acquiring Stefan Hussong and being impressed by the quality of the sound, I started looking for other recordings on the Denon label. I think that the Maria Joao Pires discs arrived via Germany like ten years ago at a very good price.
