Karl

True, all their albums are superb sounding, and one of the things I love about European jazz - they know how to record music.

Lontano kindly introduced me to EST and they are now firm favorites at Chez Voltaire.

This is REALLY good.

The morning started with only the Andantino-Allegretto from Sergei Prokofiev's Concerto for Piano no 2 in G minor, Op. 16
Anna Vinnitskaya (Piano) / Gilbert Varga / Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin

Then a shot of Etudes in the form of Free Variations on a theme of Beethoven, WoO 31 by Robert Schumann / Ragna Schirmer (Piano)

The sunshine appeared during Trois Nouvelles Etudes played by Olga Scheps

For something a little different comes Hommage a Chopin courtesy of Jonathan Plowright (a fantastic album by the way!). I only intended on hearing Mily Balakirev's contribution of an Impromptu this morning (Based on Chopin’s e♭ and B Preludes) but the mood was right to continue on through and I'm glad I did.

Currently, Maria-Joao Pires and the Polonaise-fantaisie in A flat major, B 159/Op. 61 by Frédéric Chopin

That would be REALLY REALLY good. Smile

If you are new to Elliott, most anything is very good. If you don't have much to start with, consider a new release "An Introduction To Elliott Smith" and then you can choose from those tracks back to individual albums they are from.

Elliott left us way too soon.
