Diamond Bollocks is my favorite Beck track on my favorite Beck album. Also an awesome test track for auditioning HiFi watching peoples reactions as it flicks from thing to another. Beck = Genius.

Really like this.

I do respect Franz Liszt for the fine composer he was, and especially for some of his more familiar works that I can appreciate and enjoy. But his piano transcriptions leave me cold.

imho it renders compositions of older masters palatable for ear-trumpeted Victorians, or at best like listening to Silent Movie Soundtrack music that’s very cheesy and dull.

My listening-sample experiences have come from this HUGE Hyperian / Liszt 99 x CD box-set (for February 2011 release.) Leslie Howard (piano)

It’s a special price! How much are they going to pay people to take it away?

Total duration: 7255 cheesy minutes 52 seconds

Someone on this forum will probably buy that big box set, I better apologise now before I get a lambasting Big Grin

Switching halfway the nocturnes to Arrau. Very different, and equally impressive.

Debs,

It isn't really, but I get away with it due to lack of British manners! Winker

Talk about morning music... I'll join you!

Karl, do you know these? Despite the early digital recording, the performances are even more impressive than the ones that Ashkenazy did with Previn IMO - largely due to the contribution of the Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Thanks for posting this, I was not aware of it. I am a fan of Trixie's too soon departed father, Chris Whitley. Fortunately, I got to see him live one time, and Trixie was onstage but she was about twelve and just dancing and grooving to her dad's music.
