How does she do it - on vinyl and every bit as good as her magnificent debut. I'll play the CD later. You get the download for free too when you buy the record.

Wonderful record from the most original and exciting artist around today. OK this second album builds on the debut, it is not departure from the unique style that is Basia Bulat - this lady should be an international superstar, but perhaps that would change her music and so maybe it is best she stays as she is.

Surely this why we have Naim systems and LP12s to hear this magical music.

I have to give Basia Bulat the highest praise you can give a singer songwriter - she's every bit as good as Mary Chapin Carpenter and it doesn't get better than that.

The link with these three is the playing and samples of Billy Cobham's title track 'Spectrum'

As Billy states in his sleevenotes...

"What is life but a Spectrum and what is music but life itself"

Beethoven 7th (& 5th) Vladamir Ashkenazy, Philhamonia, Decca Eclipse. The slowest, and for me most majestic performance of the second movement of Symphony no. 7 I have heard.

Underworld 'Dirty Epic' single, with 'Dirty Guitar' and 'Dirty'.

I have just picked up a copy of this as recommended yesterday by Bruce. Been driving and had it on in the car and it is superb - right up my street. A kind of old 70' s British prog folky feel (not meant to put you off) with acoustic guitar and excellent vocals. At moments I sense elements of my favourite Opeth album, Damnation coming through as well. This one is likely to be in a few year end lists. 5 star review in today's Independent. I can see this album being the soundtrack to my next few months...

For anyone curious, click on the above cover to hear the whole 92 minute album.

Makes Karin's Fever Ray album sound like Kylie.

oh take me back to 1998. This little effort lifted by the sublime Natacha Atlas.

First listen to CD1. I was expecting something wackier, but it's somewhat respectful so far (not a bad thing, of course).

Another album preview...

^^^ If you're in the UK, that's a link to the Guardian and all of the new Hot Chip.

Edit: After a quick run through, think I'll give it a miss!

Tried playing this again while doing my work, but I couldn't do it - my work virtually stopped. This is a fantastic record that doesn't suffer multitasking - you have to give it your undivided attention.
