Original WG Atomic, anyone compared it to the MOFI? I'm tempted, but tbh this sounds very good and a heap better than the remaster.

Never did but it would make for a nice shootout. I would have to include one of the early JPN pressings as well.

Not at the prices I've seen. Red Face

The Atomic is very nice.

Played this driving the dark country lanes round here. Such good driving music and for a moment I was very saddened (as was my wife) when I thought that this band are no longer with us. The music brought back some good memories of seeing the band live in small jazz clubs, which is almost always my favourite live music experience.

Don't dislike it, don't really like it either. It's pleasant enough - maybe a grower.

Adrian,

For a second I imagined that I was looking at Stefan's self-portrait...

Haim,

It is spookily close I have to say...now we know where he got the idea. Would be nice to see him around here.....

By the way how is that Bollani - worth getting? I think that is one I somehow missed...

Yes, that would be great to have him here. I wonder what we could tempt him with...

The Bollani (Huw's recommendation) is a must, don't miss it. The music is of warm, worry free swinging piano with a nice ensemble. One of his best.

I worked all day in the yard today and I am getting ready now for a decent Turkish coffee and some quiet time.

From The Times

Grumps who complain that contemporary jazz is anaemic aren’t altogether mistaken: let’s face it, too many albums simply lack memorable themes. Which is one reason to welcome this superb set from a classically trained double-bass player who sets herself the task of absorbing influences of JS Bach without going down the Jacques Loussier path. Fragments crop up all over as Molloy’s nimble, pianoless trio — with Stuart MacDonald and Chris Sykes — explore spacious original tunes. The performances have an Esbjorn Svensson-like rhythmic edge that you seldom hear in similarly understated ECM sessions, and there’s a brisk tribute to Wayne Shorter. Heartening stuff.
