It is an album that has say in my collection little played for too long, so I think I will put it in the car for a while. I always enjoy some good prog whilst travelling.

Now this from Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhollow

Currently sitting at no. 1 in my best of 2010 music list (arrived too late to make my 09 list) is this excellent album from John Moulder. Very ECM like with flavours of Terje Rypdal. Quite melodic.

John Moulder is a part time jazz musician on the Chicago circuit but here he has attracted a couple of outstanding Norwegian musicians to play with him. He has in the past, recorded for Naim. When he is not jazzing, he is a Priest.

I will see if I can find one for you, these two are absolute reference material. Even considering the amazing sound, why 'Seventh' is selling at these levels today is beyond me.

This was my first listen, but I think it is quite good. I only have 'Sympathique' to compare.

Mark Feldman - Secrets

quote:
When one teams incredible musicians like violinist Mark Feldman and pianist Uri Caine with the Masada rhythm section of bassist Greg Cohen and drummer Joey Baron, only the finest in modern jazz music should be expected. This quartet delivers on a very high level during this program of centuries-old Hassidic spiritual themes from the dynasties of Lubavitch, Satmar, Bobov, and Modzitzer Hassidim translated into contemporary jazz.

Thanks, Oliver, and the same to you.

I started with disc 7 and probably play a couple more before moving to something else. However, the set is going to be parked on the coffee table for a while.

Interesting Gordon. Looks like a Tzadik label release. There is some really good stuff to try there - a whole new world of exploration. I have lots of these albums but not this one. Is it good?
