Elliott Smith "From A Basement On The Hill"

I am going to join you Jeff. Listening to it whilst working. It's very good and the only Elliott album I have and I have not played it for a few years. What else of his would you recommend? I was thinking of getting New Moon.

Adrian,
I tend to like his more raw, less produced stuff. I consider Either/Or and New Moon (from the same period though more recently released) both must haves for anyone liking his music. A genius in my opinion, gone much too early.

Thanks Jeff.

Earlier,

Includes an "Elegy for ES" (Esbjorn Svensson), another gone far too early.

I have not heard/explored EST/ES, something I hope to do during 2010.

Jeff, if you do I hope you find it as rewarding and I and some others round here have found it - three albums to try for starters - From Gagarins Point of View, Seven Days of Falling and Viaticum.

Cheers

Second play of this. Challenging but I think this will soon become very rewarding.

Couldn't they make a proper X? Razz

There is some similarity on those X covers! Slightly different music though.

Now some Lisa.

Luther Dickinson, Alvin Youngblood Hart and Jimbo Mathus.

Great old time blues album. One for you KK when you get the new house set up and for all you Felice Brothers fans.

Thanks for the confirms on EST, I have been noticing the enthusiasm Adrian has stirred - I will check soon.

A fantastic sounding 32DP, maybe even better than the MoFi.

I thought the MOFI was the bees knees on this title. Never heard the 32DP Oliver.

It's pretty rare but not quite as expensive as a mint MoFi, I think Dave on SH.tv called it the Mofi killer. Winker

Big Grin Sorry about that Stu Winker I am just in one of those moods at the moment (always happens at the beginning of a year when lots of interesting. less commercial albums come out) where I just want to play all the new music coming out at the moment. So much stuff out there. I'll see what else I can find for you! Thank god for Spotify, eh!

Now some soothing French vocals

Today is the first time I got to listen to it without disruption and it is truely stunning. Along the same lines, another great sounding 32DP
