Wear you out Herr R - thought you had more stamina. You can't beat a good workout on the old eardrums especially with a good bit of new ear candy Cool

You'll need more than 1TB Winker

Some new French piano music - Stu I wouldn't bother.

Memories. Way back when, when I was in college, I owned a Zenith Circle-of-Sound portable hi-fi, and there was a time period during my senior year when at the end of the day, and my roommate and I were ready for sleep, we would "stack" on the turntable: S+G "Parsley Sage", Beatles "Abbey Road, and The Hollies "He Ain't Heavy" albums for playing. I knew every note and nuance of those by heart.

In the interests of forum "clemency", I will not reply Winker

I prefer Viaticum, Strange Place for Snow and Seven Days of Falling, but I haven't played any of them that many times.

Leucocyte seems to have a lot of electronic "enhancements"if that is the right term.

Hi Pat

I love that album, but am ready for a new one as well. They played several new songs at the show in December and something to look forward to.

If you purchase downloads, at amazon search The Bench Connection, if you like BP, BC is similar and every bit as good. Only available as a download I believe unless you find a used one.

regards

Gordon,
I like Monk, so I have eyed that even with all the other recommends.

May I ask about your "new system" ?

Gents, this is one that I rarely play but is now sounding great after your prompt.

If you like Monk's compositions, this is an excellent group to know of:

Sphere
On the very day that Thelonious Monk died (February 17, 1982), the Monk tribute group Sphere -- comprised of Monk's longtime tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse, pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Buster Williams, and Monk's former drummer Ben Riley -- recorded an album of Monk tunes. Although Sphere started out as a tribute band, it also performed originals and jazz standards during its existence. The quartet recorded for Elektra Musician, Red, and Verve (including a set of Charlie Parker tunes) before disbanding after Rouse's death on November 30, 1988. Sphere re-formed in 1998, with saxophonist Gary Bartz assuming Rouse's place; that year they issued their self-titled comeback LP. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide

I saw Kenny Barron and Ben Riley perform in the late 90's as part of Kenny's trio, quite simply amazing musicianship.

He was right, I thought I'd played it before, the last 2 tracks were a bit too much.

Now something in a more gentle vein, on iTunes:-

Thanks Jeff. I have never been a big Thelonious fan - I have a very nice box set upstairs of his albums - The Riverside Collection that needs more air time.

I am a big Kenny Barron fan though - he is an awesome pianist and maybe I should play some of his albums over the next few days.

I will check out Sphere.
